Project Overview
Problem
- The company lacked a mobile platform for e-bike BMS diagnostics, battery monitoring, and firmware updates, causing dependence on manual servicing and physical tools.
- Reliable real-time communication between BMS hardware and mobile application over CAN Bus/UART and BLE was challenging due to unstable connectivity and firmware transfer risks.
- Existing service workflows increased operational costs and reduced scalability for customer support and maintenance.
Approach
- Led end-to-end development of a cross-platform BMS mobile application featuring diagnostics, battery health monitoring, OTA firmware updates, BLE auto-connect, RMA workflow, and Google Maps riding assistant.
- Designed and implemented real-time CAN Bus/UART and BLE communication interfaces with robust auto-connect, reconnection, and error-handling mechanisms.
- Built a secure OTA firmware update pipeline including binary packaging, BLE transfer protocol, and firmware integrity verification.
Key Results & Impact
- ✓100% eliminating the need for physical servicing
- ✓Successfully delivered the company’s first BMS diagnostic mobile application in 2022.
- ✓Enabled remote diagnostics and OTA firmware updates, eliminating the need for most physical servicing processes.
